A boy was reading a book. He saw a picture of a camel. And according to the boy, that camel was smiling! He ran with the book to his mother and showed her that Smiling Camel’s picture.

Boy: “See Mumma, this picture of a camel. “
Mother: “Yeah let me see.”
Boy: “Don’t you think it’s a Smiling Camel?”
Mother: “Yes you are right. This camel seems to be happy.”
Boy: “One day I had seen one camel sitting on the roadside. But that camel was very sad... “
Mother: “Ohh! But why you felt it was sad? “
Boy: “These much big rope was passed through its nose!” He showed the size of the rope with his little fingers. “And that rope was connected to the cart... “
After a pause he continued…
“If somebody passes that much big rope through our nose .... Are we going to feel happy?”
Mother: “No Beta, no one gonna feel happy like this... “
Boy: “But why people do this to the animals? I have seen such rope used with horses and bullocks too!”
Mother: “People do this with animals to control them & train them to work for them.”
Boy: “They should use some mask and make animals wear it instead of passing the rope through the nose! At least it’ll not hurt them.”
Mother:”Yeah. You are absolutely right Beta...”

I felt good about my child that he can understand the emotions of the other and can feel the pain - the other might have suffered. I could see it while he was expressing his feelings. He was able to differentiate the happiness and sadness between two camels.

Nowadays, as my son has suggested, the Face Harness is available for the animals. The option of online shopping for Harness is also available. I ask all of you to please suggest Face Harness option to the animal owner when you see any nose roped animal. Please feel the pain of an animal and don’t forget to share. It might be possible the owner of the animal isn’t aware.

Well this discussion made me think about the human nature. We, so called humans not only try to control the animals but sometimes the other humans too. The virtual nose rope is applied here! Ask the same question before being harsh to the other “If somebody passes that much big rope through our nose .... Are we going to feel happy?”

Understand the pain you pass through your harsh behavior, words and acts. After certain level regrets of the past doesn’t work to improve the healthiness in the relationships. So it’s the time become proactive. To think before we say or react. Any situation or relation can be well maintained with positive emotions and understanding the pain of the other.

A change in our own behavior will make the difference in the smiles people give us in reply. We’ll be able to feel the ripples of the happiness initiated in the pond of life. And that will be perfect picture of life similar to this Smiling Camel… ad

Yesterday I had visited a nursery, nearby my house. I wanted to get some saplings for my home. I met the person who was handling the nursery and inquired about few specific saplings but don’t know why he didn’t seem in mood to serve a customer. So I had to look for the other one.

A few kilometers away I found another nursery; and the owner was an Old Man. Again, I inquired about specific saplings which I needed and that Old Man replied calmly. That Old Man displayed and picked the best saplings for me. In fact, I also got an extra plant which I had not planned to buy.

When I was done with my plants need it was time to calculate the total price. I had to help that Old Man in calculating the total price. It was Rs. 320 only. I was having the change of Rs. 320, so I offered him the money and requested him to get arranged all those saplings on my scooter. At that time he didn’t took money and got busy in finding a big bag to carry.

After that, with due care he kept all the saplings in that bag. He didn’t allow me to help him in keeping those saplings in the bag! Like it was his duty and he wanted to do it with full dedication! Once he kept all the saplings in the bag, again I offered him that money which I was holding for him. And his answer touched my heart. That old man said, “I’ll take money only after I’ll finish my work!”

He carried that bag of saplings and arranged it perfectly on my scooter.  So on the way back home I didn’t get troubled and most importantly his saplings which he had nurtured carefully were in the best condition till the end! After finishing all his duties, he took the money and smiled! This whole experience made me the permanent customer of that Old Man even though his nursery is far from my house!

This is an example of delivering beyond the limit. As a customer I was not only satisfied but over whelmed. The product was well created and nicely taken care of! The dealing with the customer was calm and with the approach to offer best services. The price was reasonable. The packaging didn’t harm the product. It made so comfortable to travel along with the product even on the scooter. And most importantly the dedication and hard work of that Old Man towards his work responsibilities was commendable! And the smile was the cherry on the top!

If an Old Man (who was illiterate) can set the example of calmness, work responsibility, hard work, dedication and customer care that too with the smile on face; definitely we all should and can… ad

PS: In the past I had kept a Gardner to take care of my plants but yesterday I planted all those saplings on my own. And trust me it felt so good like I had visited seashore or been on the top of a mountain. Yesterday I understood planting on our own can also be a way to get connected to the nature! The feeling was awesome. I’m so grateful to God… ad

I don’t have a pet dog. And I know, few people will definitely think that I’m not allowed to say anything about this topic. But still, I am writing this blog because of an incident happened today morning. Well as per my understanding about the ‘Pet Dogs’, people keep dogs in their houses considering them a family member just because a dog is an animal who LOVES a lot! And from a dog we humans can also LEARN to love unconditionally. Correct me Pet Dog Owners if I’m wrong!

Every day, I and my husband go for a walk in the morning. And every day we see lot of people coming with their Pet Dogs for a walk. It feels good to see those cute faces in the morning. But we all know why pet owners go for a walk along with their Dogs! So their dogs can poop in the streets & the roadsides and they can keep their own house litter free. I checked on Google to find any law in India, against it but couldn’t find any. Sad! We still need to work on it.

Let me narrate today’s incident. A Man with curly hairs and a Woman were walking with their two big white dogs. (I’m sorry I cannot understand the dog breed by looking at them.) At the same time, a lady was cleaning the road. And she seems to be working for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Her face was covered with a cloth because she was cleaning the road. That Man with curly hairs allowed his Pet Dog to poop in the front of a gate of an apartment. And that lady worker asked that Man to not to allow his Dog to do so, particularly at that place.

Instead of saying and feeling sorry, that curly haired man started shouting at her! Between the arguments when that lady inquired about his place of living (May be she wanted to complaint about this Man’s behavior); that Man started talking in abusive language with her, and said “I’m living in ‘Sarthi’, come with me I’ll show you my house” and even raised his hand to slap her!!!

I and my husband both shouted at that moment and asked him to stop! But that fellow started talking rubbish with us too. I felt so awkward when I found that so many people were gathered by that time but no one raised their voice against that man’s acts and abusive language. (Instead people were expecting us to not to intervene.) Somehow the matter closed because that lady again started cleaning the road and we felt useless talking to that strange person.

I don’t understand why few persons are using these kinds of abusive words at public place and that too in higher tone of voice! And behave weirdly with another human (a woman, a worker, a cleaner and a poor is also a human); as if it’s a ‘Style Statement’! Please stop having this kind of approach with anyone! This kind of behavior of that Man, only created an impression on all of us that in spite of having a family member like a ‘Dog’ he hasn’t learned anything in life! Please at least learn to have compassion from your own Pet!

This incident encouraged me to search laws and guidelines for the Pet Owners. I found the guidelines by Animal Welfare Board of India dated 26th February, 2015. You can check the whole article at the link given below. According to the Point number 4 from the Guidelines for Pet Owners – Pet owners, or the care-givers or dog walkers they entrust their pets to, are advised to either clean up the pet defecates in public premises, or participate in other solutions for maintaining cleanliness. Such civic sense is the need of the hour in our country and it is also a courtesy to other users of public spaces.

Dear Pet Dog Owners please try to understand, it’s about our own neighborhood, our own city and our own country. There is not any strict law in our country, but please have some civic sense and courtesy for others.

Please have some concerns about the people who are cleaning the streets and roads which we only use every day. Stop creating litter on roads and streets by any means. Please contribute in Clean India Mission by understanding these little things!

And please don’t use those words, which you cannot speak in front of your own parents and children. No one likes to hear those words and weird behavior. Trust me you don’t look modern or smart or fashionable with those abusive words in your mouth.

And last but not the least – if you find someone misbehaving with the other, please do your best to stop that person. Additionally, if someone has raised a voice against that misbehavior add your voice too. It gives the strength to that truthful person and to that victim both. Don’t just stop and watch the scene, contribute with your wise words and help in solving the matter with calmness… ad
