Once, I had asked one simple question to all the connections of my social media. The question was – “What is your own definition of a Family?!!” And I was so pleased to get the lovely answers from the beautiful people all across the world…

The definition statements of the beautiful answers were coded by such a bold & pretty words like – Love, Care, Fun, World, Life, Garden, Help, Warmth, Comfort, Understanding, Giant Shock absorber, Special and LOYAL (according to me the most Important factor required to build a Family)…

From the all responses, below are the few lines I loved the most:

Where people can be their OWN self…
Where you FORGET your troubles…
You know that everything will be ALRIGHT…
A group of people not necessarily BLOOD related…
May not understand & agree all the time, but CARE enough…
HELP each other, even when angry…
Help each other to be BETTER…
Understand that - EACH member is special…
Where people DON’T know to be selfish, even if they WANT to…

Just WOW!!! What an explanation and what are the wonderful thoughts… I honor such spirit of love and care towards the term Family. And I’m sincerely Thankful for all of them who replied to my question. This reminds me one inspiring quote on ‘Family’ by Osho - “The whole earth is our home and all of life is our family.”

But if we come to the world of ruthless reality, most of the people are not comfortable with their own ‘so called family’. Open up a newspaper and you’ll find where one family member is doing worse to the other one. Not only through the newspaper; you might have seen, heard and even been with such egoistic & negative people. And the reason behind this ego of these negative people; is just because someone got succeeded in the life, someone is happy in being who they are, someone is too young to understand what should not be done morally, someone did something good in their own way of life, or something happened, which they didn’t expect…

There are some factors which are undoubtedly stuck with the Family – Discomfort, Ego, Power, Selfishness, Money, Properties, Melodrama, Jealousy, Insecurity, Cheat, Hate, Harass, Hurt, ABUSE, and the worst ever MURDER & RAPE… In such a cruel world it is so difficult to consider the whole earth as our home and all the life on earth as our family. A very few ‘Great Soul’ like Mother Teresa & Mahatma Gandhi can have such kind, loving & peaceful living…

You have to keep in mind that - Negativity itself is a magnet. It is definitely going to attract you. There is one common saying in Gujarati language “Sang Evo Rang” (Meaning: You become the person you are being with daily). So beware of those egoistic & negative people in your Family. You can’t become one of them in the process of making such people positive… You have to be true to your own feelings… You’ll have to be strong and brave enough to be with yourself… Always do your best to support and create happiness to your family, but not at the cost of destroying your own soul… Do not avoid your own feelings in serving and being fit to someone’s expectations… To be true to yourself, sometimes you need to fight the most difficult battle against your own family…

This reminds me one of my favorite Bhajan, which says a lot about being rigorously stuck to the truthfulness even if your family is against you. The bold words of that Bhajan are:

Naarayan nu naam j leta vaare tene tajiye re …
Mansa, Vaacha, Karmana kari ne; Laxmi var ne bhajiye re …
Pratham Pita Prahlaad e tajiya, Nav tajiyu Hari naam re …
Bharat, Shatrughna e tyaji Janeta, Nav tajiya Shree Ram re …

(Meaning: Get separated from those individuals who promote you not to worship Narayan (Lord Krishna) …
You should worship God through your thoughts, talks and deeds…
Prahlaad was the first son to depart from his father, because he didn’t want to stop worshipping Lord Krishna…
Bharat & Shatrughna were the first sons to depart from their mother, because they didn’t want to stop loving & supporting Lord Rama…)

If you are one of them who is having the immense feeling of ‘Let go!’, who is working hard to bring back softness in the relations, who is surviving and managing with such egoist people and sustaining the relation just because you don’t want to Lose them; then first of all tap your back. As the great poet Rumi has said - “Give up the drop, become the ocean”. You are striving to become an ocean of kindness. You are the person with a good heart and this world is in need of a beautiful human like you. Keep continue the act of kindness and don’t worry if no one is admiring it; because God is counting each act of yours… You are on the path to become a ‘Great Soul’.

Well, for me, the Real Family is where one is Praying God for another’s Goodness, where one is being Positive for another’s mistake, where one is truly Happy in another’s happiness, where one is smiling and working Hard for another’s smile, where one is peaceful and bringing Peace to another and where one is connected to the all the living things of the universe through the little deeds of kindness…

And I’m so Grateful to all such known and unknown family members of mine for being so kind and positive enough to inspire and serve the world to be a better place. God Bless You All… ad

We all are aware about ‘Happiness’. We know that it comes from within and not because of any outside incidents or reasons. But what happens; once we become happy? After a few days or maybe a few hours or in some cases a few seconds that so called ‘Happiness’ disappears like water drops evaporates in the Sun. And like dry leaf we start feeling lonely, tired and anxious and so on… Why such pauses happen; when we know the source of Happiness and already had found the one?!!! Just because of that Happiness hasn’t transformed into a Habit.

Let’s check one another Habit - The Habit of Exercise. We all know we should exercise every day. But only a few have this habit of exercise, because to cultivate the habit of exercising daily; it demands discipline, focus, mind control, determination and your own inner voice that “Whatever happens I want to exercise and I’ll exercise in any situation”. And when you forcefully command your mind and body every day with this statement, you can actually have the habit of exercising.

In the same manner, if you really want to be Happy at every bit of heart; you need to cultivate the habit of happiness. Avoid the habits, circumstances and relations which are always filled with Negativity. Accompany the ones who are really happy in your Happiness and know how to lift you up. Try to always look positive side of any situation. And once again, you’ll need discipline, focus, mind control and determination to get the habit of happiness. We need to discipline our body and mind to think, feel and act positively, which will ultimately bring the happiness. You need to forcefully command your body and mind about just being happy and work hard to get out from the negativity and sadness.

Let’s take a simple example of a Half-filled Glass. Everyone knows that the person who sees the glass half filled finds happiness in their lives. But don’t you think, sometimes satisfaction makes a person stable and it can stop the growth. And if you are not growing, ultimately you can’t be happy. And about those who sees the half glass empty; anyway they are making their selves unhappy by watching the negative side of the LIFE. The real happiness comes in working & struggling to fill that emptiness of the glass, to fill the emptiness of the life.  And when you find happiness in your Struggle; you start building the habit of Happiness.

Have you ever experienced the day when you worked hard and you got to sleep very soon, just like a small baby!! That’s nothing but the happiness of the hard work and struggle to complete the task within the timeline!! It gives the feeling of some achievement and that feeling satisfy the body & the mind. And that satisfaction is called the Happiness…

Happiness is everywhere. While playing, while cooking, while praying, while reading, while traveling, while celebrating and even while working, but all these occasions can become boring and tiring if you are not enjoying yourself while doing these activities. To enjoy each and every moment of your life you need to train yourself for Happiness, like an athlete. Start your routine with a smile, in search of real joy, in a search of cultivating the habit of happiness. Don’t do any activity just because you have to do it; involve yourself in the activity like you love to do & you’re enjoying it thoroughly. And with the Disciplined Practice & Positive Mind that boring routine can also become the Source of Happiness. And when you start loving and enjoying and being happy in your routine, you will definitely get the new way of thinking, the new way of doing your work and that will bring your routine to the NEXT LEVEL. You’ll start rising, you’ll start innovating.

Any Attempt done with the inner Happiness always get Treasured. And to bring out the inner Happiness you need to cultivate the HABIT of Happiness. And once you’ll have a Habit of Happiness you will shine like a STAR… ad

It was an excellent day when Mital Kapadia got Distinction in her Class 10 results. That was a great achievement for herself and her family. The whole family celebrated her Success with Happiness. But in the year 2008 the phase of Mital’s life has changed completely, when she got failed in Science stream of Class 12. She got depressed about her own performance and also made her family extremely upset. After her Class 12th results her family members had given up on her. Mital’s result made her family so frustrated that they started disrespecting her a lot.

From the beginning Mital knew that this time she won’t be able to score as much as Class 10, because she was so disturbed about health of her closed family member. Before attending the Board examination for Class 12, Mital tried to convince her family to take a break from examination as she was not fully prepared. But Mital’s family forced her to attend the exam in the same year with the argument that she should have prepared herself in the beginning itself.

Her own disappointment about her performance and the behavior of her own family made her a patient of Migraine. Within just 3 months of a period Mital reduced almost 12 kg weight. She became so sick and lost almost all the hopes of life. Her own disappointment made her think about her own mistakes. The Tale of Grit is Mital looked behind and started finding her mistake to learn from them and move ahead. She found that it has been her great mistake to take Science stream in Class 12 as since childhood; she was more fascinated about an Art of Drawing.

Mital wanted to make a career in the field of her interest, but now her family was not in support about any of her decisions. The Tale of Grit is Mital knew that now it is the time to show her family and friends what she is about. To pay the fees for her own studies, she started taking Drawing Tuitions. As Mital’s family had given up on her long back they didn’t expect a success in her struggle. But a brave girl has taken a firm decision about her life and she had started working hard on it. Her continued efforts made her clear not only B.Com but also Diploma in Fine Arts.

Below is the list of the Certificates which she gained through her art of Drawing.
  • Elementary Drawing Grade Examination Certificate from State Examination Board, Gujarat State - with grade A
  • Spot Painting Competition from Association in AID of Deaf People – Participation Certificate
  • Navneet Drawing Competition Certificate from Navneet Publication Limited – Participation Certificate with Group C
  • Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination Certificate from State Examination Board, Gujarat State – with Grade A
  • Foundation Diploma in Fine Arts Certificate from Kanoria Centre for Arts – with Grade B

Mital Kapadia through her courage and hard work showed that failing once in a life is not The End but in fact it is The Beginning of a Great Life. Mital made a mistake of taking science stream in class 12 because her friends were taking science stream. At the early stage of life, not only Mital but even her family could not identify her field of potential. But her failure in life opened her eyes and gave strength to achieve success. Mital Kapadia is thankful to her Mother and a friend turned fiancé to become the backbone in her days of struggle.

Currently, Mital Kapadia learning the Calligraphy work and enjoys being ‘An Artist’ which makes her Successful in her way of life. She presents her paintings and craft creations for different Art & Craft Exhibitions held in the city. She is feeling inspired by coaching more than 55 children about the Art of Drawing. Through her failure story Mital wants to share a message to the world that don’t follow blindly and be Firm towards your own Desire. Exhibition organizers and interested people in learning Art of Drawing can contact Mital at [email protected].

An epic of Mital Kapadia is an amazing instance to move ahead for all the students who failed or got less marks in their Board exams. It is also a great Learning to all the parents and family members who only blames their child for failure. At early age a child may not understand about his/her own potential, it is an elder’s responsibility to show the appropriate path of success. By sharing her Tale of Grit Mital Kapadia has proved that Failure is not fatal and Success has no destination; it is a life long Journey of hard work… ad

“He is not talking to anyone; I think he is engaged in some mischief. I don’t believe him at all.”
“I saw both my neighbors talking yesterday and I doubt they must be talking about me only.”
“That group is being united to be part of a charity, but I think there is some uncertainty in their activities.”
“That person smiles at my spouse everyday and I can’t trust that one anymore.”
“That lady talks very nicely with everyone and I feel something suspicious about her character."

Do you find these statements familiar?

You might have said such statements and if not said than such thoughts might have come to your head. These thoughts of Skepticism started from ‘I doubt’ can create a very huge problem without having any strong evidence. And if doesn’t create an epic than definitely can disturb your own mind and surroundings.

Why only ‘I doubt’, ‘I don’t believe’, & ‘I can’t trust’ - such statements are concerning to others only? And why can’t for our own? Why no one is being skeptical of self?

But why someone would doubt his / her own? Because everyone finds himself / herself perfect as per their own mindset and with their own clarifications. Everyone can make self comfortable in any situation, because they will have one or other reason for their own behavior or failure. They can find so many reasons / persons to blame or doubt in their own life!!! True??

Hey! Wait for a while…

Think for yourself today… spend some time for self and see yourself like you are watching or judging the others… Do you really find yourself as perfect as you believe? I guess ‘NO’… There might be so many goals which you should have achieved but didn’t yet. There might be so many things which you should have said but didn’t yet. You might be over loaded with the past memories which you should have forgiven and lightened yourself but you still carrying that load. And instead of working on your own you have made busy yourself in observing and judging others.

Then why are you wasting your own time and energy in watching and judging others and creating GIANT issues just because of your habit of skepticism!!! And if you really want to doubt someone, that too on DAILY basis; then there is only one person in the world is YOU…

Ask yourself why can’t I get up early?
Why can’t I complete this project on time?
Why can’t I exercise every day?
Why can’t I control my anger?
Why can’t I stop smoking / drinking?
And so on… Once you’ll start having the habit of skepticism for your own, you’ll not have any time to doubt others.

Doubt your limits, doubt your behavior, doubt your capabilities, doubt your habits, and doubt your own strength… Everyday try to make yourself BETTER by having a habit of ‘Skepticism for SELF’ and not for others…

I hope you’ll start the habit of ‘Skepticism for Self’ from today onward and pray for me, that I’ll continue this habit forever… and if you already have such habit for so long then, please go ahead and keep inspiring others… ad

Vaishnav Jan to’ was the most favorite Bhajan (a prayerful song) of Mahatma Gandhi. And it is said that Gandhiji used to do prayer with this Bhajan every day. Vaishnav is called the true devotees of Lord Krishna like the poet himself. One of the greatest devotees of Lord Krishna, a saint, a poet and a true ‘Vaishnav’ - Narsinh Mehta explains the characteristics of a Vaishnav through this Gujarati Bhajan.

Vaishnav jan to tene re kahiye, je pid parai jaane re;
Pardukhe upakaar kare toye, man abhimaan na aane re…

We can call ‘Vaishnav’ to only such person, who understands the pain of others. The one who (has habit of) helping others in their troubles and still doesn’t carry pride in his/her mind (is only called a true Vaishnav)…

Sakal lokma sahune vande, ninda na kare koi ni re;
Vach kach man nishchal rakhe, dhanya dhanya janani teni re…

The one who doesn’t slander anyone and respects all in the entire world (is only called a true Vaishnav). The mother of such (Vaishnav) is praiseworthy who keep his/her mind calm while talking and behaving…

Samdrishti ne trishna tyagi, parstri jene maat re;
Jivha thaki asatya na bole, pardhan nav jhale haath re…

The one who is impartial & abandoned all the desires (is only called a true Vaishnav). And the one man who considers all other women (rather than his wife) as his mother (is only called a true Vaishnav). The one who doesn’t say lie and don’t hold others’ money or property in his hands (is only called a true Vaishnav)…

Moh maya vyape nahi jene, dridh vairagya jena man ma re;
Ram nam shu tali re lagi, sakal tirath tena tan ma re…

The one who is not fascinated (to worldly things) and do have firm renunciation in his/ her mind (is only called a true Vaishnav). The entire auspicious pilgrimage places are in the body of such person (a true Vaishnav), who is always busy in chanting the names of ‘Ram’ (Lord Ram – an incarnation of Lord Krishna)

Vanlobhi ne kapat rahit che, kam krodh nivarya re;
Bhane ‘Narsaiyo’ tenu darshan karta, kul ekoter tarya re…

The one who is greedless & not fraudulent and do have make an end to all intense desires & anger (is only called a true Vaishnav). Narsaiyo (The Poet- Narsinh Mehta) has learned through his devotion (to Lord Krishna) that only a sight of such person (a true Vaishnav) can save our seventy one generations…

Vaishnav jan to tene re kahiye, je pid parai jaane re…
We can call ‘Vaishnav’ to such person, who understands the pain of others…

Through this Prayer and his own life story Narsinh Mehta reveals that a Vaishnav is always busy in doing acts which are in favor of Humanity and never become selfish. He also clarifies that the real Vaishnav doesn’t get involved in any kind of frauds, thefts, bribes or cheating and spends the entire life in devotion to Lord Krishna.

This prayerful song was written in the 15th Century by a poor saint poet – Narsinh Mehta; but I feel the characteristics explained about being a true Vaishnav or we can say being a true HUMAN is the only way to bring back the lost PEACE to the world… ad

Its a wonderful incident to share on a Friendship Day! It was an evening of mid June, and a Kid’s Gang living in Naranpura area of Ahmedabad city was playing at a lonely place nearby their residence. The game was Hide and Seek and it was Swayam’s turn in the game so he closed his eyes and started counting one, two, three … and the other kids Parshwa, Vishvesh, Param, Devansh, Devam & Rishabh started looking for the place to hide. After a bit of time almost all have found their hiding place, but Devam was still finding the right one. In the mean time suddenly he fell down.

Everyone was hidden so no one noticed him instead the youngest one of the Kid’s Gang Param. The Tale of Grit is - this 4 year old Param started crying like anything. His loud cry made all other kid’s to come out and he showed the place where Devam was fallen down. And this made all the kids so curious and dynamic. They thought Devam has fallen down in a Drainage line. The Tale of Grit is - they all together instantly took the action like they have to accomplish a mission.

Parshwa ran towards the society and started calling the people for help. Somehow Rishabh makes out that he should inform Devam’s mother first and he ran and informed her that Devam has fallen down in a Drainage line. The other three Vishvesh, Swayam and Devansh ran towards the place where actually Devam has fallen down. They found out that it was not a Drainage line, but an underground tank of water. Somehow Devam has fallen down inside with the lid of the water tank.

“To keep calm is the tale of Grit.” Devam in such situation could keep calm and his friends Vishvesh, Swayam and Devansh encouraged him to come out with the help of the pipelines. They guided Devam the path to come out and the brave heart Devam somehow could manage to come up using pipelines of the tank. Till the time Parshwa was back informing the society members and Param was still crying for Devam. All the Kid’s Gang together gave a helping hand to Devam and pulled him out of the water tank. By the time the society members and Devam’s mother reach the place, Devam was out of the danger because of his own and his Gang’s brave and intellectual act!! Later on all of them were pampered with an ice-cream party.

I have always believed that - “Childhood is the most natural, loving and the FEARLESS phase of the life.” And through this incident this Kid’s Gang has proved it right. Two of them complained to their mothers of having pain in the arm for 3 days after the incident occurred. But still all of them shared with me that they will continue giving a helping hand to the ones in need. In the future they want to become an Astronaut, an Artist or may join the Army to help the world. When I met this Kid’s Gang, it was play time for them. And the Tale of Grit is - they were more interested in their play rather than sharing their story & being noticed by the world.

It was 12 feet deep underground tank and by the grace of God, it was not fully filled with the water. The lid of the tank was old and rusted so Devam fell down inside with it. The members of the Society took a quick action in changing the lid, but this is an alarm for all of us to frequently check such things. Especially, if it’s a kids play area. I’m thankful to Aasav Shah (father of Devam) for sharing this epic and a round of applause to the brave Kid’s Gang.
